Dr Ashok Gangasandra

Dr. Ashok Gangasandra is a highly qualified and experienced Interventional Cardiologist based in Lismore, New South Wales, Australia. He practices at East Coast Cardiology, where he offers exceptional inpatient and outpatient services.

Dr. Gangasandra's medical journey began in India, where he completed his physician training and obtained his MBBS degree in 2001. He then decided to broaden his horizons and relocated to the United Kingdom in 2004. During his time in the UK, he gained valuable experience in medicine while working in Cardiff, Wales, and Scotland.

In 2006, Dr. Gangasandra moved to Australia and embarked on advanced training in Cardiology at the Townsville Hospital and Gold Coast Hospital. He completed his Cardiology training in 2011. Additionally, he pursued internal medicine training at Westmead Hospital in Sydney in 2008.

Driven by his passion for cardiology, Dr. Gangasandra further specialised in interventional cardiology. He completed fellowships in interventional cardiology and CT coronary angiography at McMaster University in Canada. This provided him with extensive clinical training in complex coronary imaging and interventions, as well as in research methodology. Dr. Gangasandra actively engages himself in clinical research to contribute to the advancement of his field.

Dr. Gangasandra's expertise lies in managing acute coronary syndromes, including heart attacks, utilizing both invasive and non-invasive strategies. He possesses a broad range of skills, such as performing coronary angiograms, angioplasties (with and without stenting), complex coronary interventions, and intra-coronary imaging techniques like IVUS and OCT. Furthermore, he is adept at conducting CT coronary angiography, echocardiograms, cardiac monitoring, and stress testing, among other procedures.
