Professor Zoltan Endre is a renowned Nephrologist with over 30 years of experience in the field. Graduating with first-class honours in Medicine and Science and a PhD from Sydney University, he trained at the prestigious Prince Henry Hospital in Sydney for Nephrology. He has since held several Consultant and Professorial positions in Nephrology in Brisbane, Christchurch and Sydney.
His clinical interests lie in acute and chronic kidney disease, fluid and electrolyte disorders and hypertension, which he has supported with extensive research in kidney disease. Professor Endre is an internationally recognised expert in kidney biomarker research, and his laboratory analyses biomarkers of kidney disease for studies in several regions, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
He led the first intervention trial using urinary biomarkers to triage to treatment in critical care patients and has been a keynote speaker at various international meetings. Professor Endre is also the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Internal Medicine Journal and sits on the editorial board of several medical journals.
He currently holds the position of Professor of Medicine in the Prince of Wales Clinical School at the University of New South Wales and Honorary Professor of Medicine at both the University of Queensland and the University of Otago-Christchurch in New Zealand. Furthermore, since 2012, he has been Head of Nephrology at the Prince of Wales Hospital. Overall, he is an accomplished clinician, researcher, and academic.
