Dr. Orr is an accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon with over two decades of experience in the medical field. She earned her undergraduate medical degree from the University of NSW in 1999 and began her career in cardiothoracic surgery at Liverpool and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals. In 2005, she completed her research PhD, which focused on investigating the systematic inflammatory response associated with cardiopulmonary bypass using neutrophils.
Post-PhD, Dr. Orr pursued her accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery training, specialising in heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. She completed two years of cardiothoracic surgery training at Royal Perth Hospital, followed by two years at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney.
In January 2011, Dr. Orr earned Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She subsequently embarked on three years of professional cardiothoracic surgery training in paediatric cardiac surgery. She spent two years at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, followed by a Fellowship at Texas Children's Hospital in 2013.
Today, Dr. Orr is a Visiting Medical Officer at The Children's Hospital Westmead, Westmead Hospital, and Westmead Private Hospital. She also performs heart and lung transplants at St Vincent's Hospital. Dr. Orr specialises in treating adult and paediatric congenital heart disease. She is also involved in the management of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), paediatric cardiac intensive care, and planning for the establishment of a paediatric heart and lung transplant and mechanical circulatory assist program. Dr. Orr's dedication to improving the lives of her patients and her extensive experience make her a valuable asset to the medical community.
