Dr Pearson is a committed specialist who has been serving Illawarra since 2004, providing the highest standard of care within his area of expertise. He graduated with first-class honours and started his basic surgical training in 1996, with a specialty in surgical oncology. Later, he underwent ear, nose, and throat, head and neck surgery training and completed four years of accredited training. Dr Pearson secured a fellowship in advanced head and neck, thyroid and reconstructive surgery from the internationally acclaimed unit in Auckland City Hospital after successfully passing his final exams.
Dr Pearson has both public and private hospital appointments within the Illawarra region, and on his responsibility within the public system, he supervises and mentors junior surgeons accredited to train in his specialties. He also chairs the thyroid/parathyroid multidisciplinary meetings, which convene fortnightly in Wollongong hospital. In addition, he provides regular operating sessions at Wollongong Private Hospital and is invited by the University of Wollongong Graduate School of Medicine as a lecturer.
Dr Pearson's clinical experience covers ear, nose, throat, head and neck surgery, both in adults and paediatric cases. His subspecialty training includes various surgical procedures in major head and neck surgeries with the management of benign and malignant disease. He has a particular interest in thyroid, parathyroid, parotid gland surgery, and trans-oral robotic surgery.
Dr Pearson is passionate about bringing the latest treatments and procedures to Illawarra, and his objective is to provide the best standard of treatment for his patients.
