Dr Edward Smith

Dr Smith is an accomplished adult and paediatric ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon, with more than ten years of experience consulting in private practice and the Sydney public hospital system. He works from two offices, one in Miranda, Sutherland Shire, and the other in Annandale, inner west Sydney. While he has expertise in all aspects of general ENT practice, Dr Smith holds special interests in functional and cosmetic rhinoseptoplasty, nasal airway surgery, snoring, endoscopic sinus surgery, and children’s ENT surgery. Currently, he serves as a consultant ENT surgeon at St George and Sutherland Hospitals and is the Supervisor for Advanced Surgical Training in Otolaryngology. Dr Smith began his medical career at Sydney University, where he graduated with his MB, BS, with first-class honours in 1997. After completing his residency and basic surgical training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, and subsequently Prince of Wales Private Hospital, Sydney, he began advanced ENT training in NSW in 2001 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery) in 2005. In 2006, he underwent post-fellowship training at the Oxford Deanery-ENT at Wexham Park Hospital in the United Kingdom, where he received subspecialist training in middle ear surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, and rhinoseptoplasty. Dr Smith is a mentor to ENT trainees at St George and Sutherland Hospitals and actively teaches emergency doctors, GPs, junior doctors, medical students, and other health professionals. Dr Smith offers advice on patient cases and arranges urgent appointments. He is readily available to speak directly to GPs at any time.
