Dr Sophie Offen

Dr Sophie Offen is a cardiologist specialising in the field of adult cardiology, with a particular interest in structural heart disease and heart failure. She currently practices in Wollstonecraft, Sydney, Australia. Dr Offen obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney in 2011. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), having completed her specialist Cardiology Training at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney.

Dr Offen is currently pursuing a PhD at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in association with the University of Sydney, for which she was awarded a National Health and Medical Research Council post-graduate scholarship. Her research focuses on structural heart disease, specifically exploring the role of multi-modality imaging and minimally invasive treatment options for tricuspid valve disease. Additionally, she is completing a Fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

Dr Offen possesses expertise in various cardiac imaging techniques, including transthoracic echocardiography, stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, and cardiac MRI. She applies these skills not only in her research but also in her clinical practice.

With a strong academic focus, Dr Offen has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences and has contributed to peer-reviewed journals through publication. She maintains an academic appointment at the University of Sydney as a Clinical Lecturer in the Discipline of Medicine. This role allows her to actively participate in medical teaching and contribute to the education of future medical professionals.
