Dr Katherine Kearney is a highly qualified and respected cardiologist who specialises in the field of cardiology. She is currently practicing in Wollstonecraft, Sydney, Australia. Dr Kearney obtained her Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Sydney in 2012. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor of Pharmacy from Monash University Victoria in 2007. She also holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Adult Medicine Division, which she obtained in 2019. With a strong passion for academic pursuits, Dr Kearney is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of New South Wales. She has been awarded an Australian Government Research Training program grant and a St Vincent’s Clinic grant to support her research. Her research focuses on pulmonary hypertension, non-invasive assessment of intra-cardiac pressures, and invasive haemodynamics. Dr Kearney completed her cardiology training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. During her training, she also gained expertise in pulmonary hypertension and advanced heart failure. She is currently undertaking subspecialty training in adult congenital heart diseases, further expanding her knowledge and skills in the field. In addition to her clinical work, Dr Kearney maintains an academic appointment at the University of New South Wales as a Conjoint Associate Lecturer. She actively participates in teaching medical students from the University, sharing her knowledge and experience with the future generation of medical professionals. Dr Kearney has a wide range of interests within cardiology, with a particular focus on pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, transthoracic echocardiography, stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, and right heart catheterisation. She is highly skilled in using novel cardiac MRI techniques as part of her research. Dr Kearney is also affiliated with the Mater Hospital North Sydney, where she serves as a VMO (Visiting Medical Officer). Her dedication and commitment to her field is further demonstrated through her role as an Adult congenital heart disease fellow at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
