Mr Siva Gounder

Meet Mr. Siva Gounder, a general surgeon and accredited endoscopist with a special interest in bariatric and metabolic surgery. He is the lead bariatric surgeon at Perth Weight Loss and Surgery and is well-equipped to perform a range of bariatric surgical treatments, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and duodenal switch operations.

Mr. Gounder's passion for bariatric surgery stemmed from his interest in helping obese patients with diabetes and other comorbidities to manage their metabolic syndrome and reduce the risk of weight-related diseases. He obtained his Medical Degree in 1999 from Kasturba Medical College in India and completed his postgraduate training in General Surgery at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. He later migrated to Perth and underwent specialized advanced surgical training in all major Perth hospitals through the surgical training program of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2015 and was selected for a Bariatric Surgery fellowship in North Shore Hospital, Auckland, where he successfully completed his training in 2016.
