Dr Sam Margis

Dr Sam Margis is a Consultant (Perinatal) Psychiatrist based in Elsternwick, Melbourne, Victoria. He obtained his MBBS degree from Monash University in 1998 and went on to complete specialist training in Psychiatry at The Alfred Hospital in 2006. In addition to his medical degree, he also holds a Masters of Psychological Medicine from Monash University.

With a background in general adult psychiatry at The Alfred Hospital, Dr Margis shifted his focus towards Perinatal Psychiatry and established a thriving private practice at the Albert Road Clinic. He plays a significant role in both the inpatient and outpatient programs, showcasing his dedication to providing comprehensive care for his patients.

Dr Margis's passion for Early Parenting Programs has driven him to develop interventions, procedures, and protocols to ensure that fewer women experience undiagnosed and untreated depression and anxiety after childbirth. His efforts have contributed to the expansion of the Masada Mother Baby In-Patient Unit, enabling more women to access the care they need.

Recognizing the need for more community-based support, Dr Margis assembled a dedicated team and founded NEST family wellness clinic. NEST focuses on providing holistic care for families, emphasizing the importance of mental health and well-being during the perinatal period.
