Dr Anthony Barnes

Dr. Barnes is a distinguished adult psychiatrist who possesses extensive knowledge and expertise across various fields of psychiatry. He earned his fellowship in 2018 and holds an Advanced Training Certificate in Forensic Psychiatry. His early career began in the Prison/Criminal Justice system, after which he transitioned to public hospitals and private mental health care settings.   Currently, Dr. Barnes holds several positions in the public sector, primarily at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where he provides support to oncology and palliative care patients throughout their illness journeys. He also works in a limited capacity at The Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health (Forensicare) and the Mental Health Tribunal.   Dr. Barnes employs a bio-psychotherapeutic approach that is tailored to the unique needs of each patient. His passion for his profession is evident in his patient advocacy and compassionate care.
