Prof Paul Walker OAM

Conjoint Professor Paul Walker is a highly skilled pediatric otolaryngologist who graduated from the University of NSW with a degree in medicine and surgery in 1982. He attained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1991 and subsequently underwent intensive training at the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, USA. Following this, he was granted a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada from 1991 to 1992. During his time in Canada, he specialized in both the operative and non-operative management of ear, nose, and throat disorders affecting children.

Since 1992, Paul has dedicated his practice to the care of children, establishing a reputable practice in Newcastle. His contributions to the field of pediatric otolaryngology were recognized when he was elected as a member of the prestigious American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology in 1995. Later, Paul gained Fellowships from the American College of Surgeons in 2000.

Currently, Paul serves the Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Otolaryngology as its President. He also serves on the RACS Section of Academic Surgery, the RACS Ethics Committee, and the Australian Association of Bioethics and Health Law. Paul's hard work and dedication to medicine were recognized in 2020 when he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
