Dr Frank is a highly experienced physician who has dual fellowships in anesthesia and pain medicine, awarded in 2005. His interest in critical care and holistic patient care led him to pursue these specialties after completing his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1995. Dr Frank gained valuable experience in rural hospital and general practice in North Queensland before moving to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital as a staff specialist in anesthesia and pain management. He subsequently moved to the Sunshine Coast and held a staff specialist position at Nambour General Hospital between 2006 and 2009.
Dr Frank's private practice has evolved from primarily anesthesia to primarily pain management. Dr Frank provides appropriate pain treatment procedures within a community-based multidisciplinary approach, which involves educating patients about the complexities of pain and the available options and resources. Dr Frank has a particular interest in ultrasound-guided procedures and offers interventional procedures, including diagnostic blocks, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency neurotomies, peripheral and spinal cord neurostimulation trials, and permanent implants. He specialises in targeting peripheral nerves involved with excessive neural input through both pulsed radiofrequency and neurostimulation techniques.
Dr Frank is an expert in orthopedic anesthesia and provides vital post-surgical neuropathic pain management. He contributes his approach to pain management to the Sunshine Coast Persistent Pain Management Service, where he maintains a public appointment, thereby allowing the unit to evolve into an accredited training unit. Dr Frank's primary objective is to provide a comprehensive, personalised treatment plan that includes further investigations, medications, procedural interventions, further education, and management through appropriate physiotherapy and pain psychology. Dr Frank's practice emphasizes patient education, interventional procedures, and a multidisciplinary approach to managing pain, making him an excellent choice for patients seeking pain management services.
