Dr Jill O'Donnell

Dr Jill O'Donnell is a renowned vascular and endovascular specialist surgeon hailing from Australia and Ireland. Having completed her undergraduate degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, she went on to receive her Masters of Surgery and Higher Surgical Training at prominent tertiary referral hospitals in Ireland. Dr O'Donnell also passed the Intercollegiate Fellowship examination in Vascular & General Surgery (FRCSI) in 2011 and completed an intensive 18-month fellowship in vascular and endovascular surgery at Westmead Hospital, Sydney. She further honed her skills at John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, and St George Hospital in Sydney. Dr O'Donnell became a fellow of Vascular Surgery in Australia and New Zealand (FRACS) in 2015, after passing the Australian intercollegiate examination.

In 2016, Dr O'Donnell relocated to the Sunshine Coast, where she played a pivotal role in the development of vascular services for the region, working as Clinical Director of Vascular Surgery from 2017-early 2020. She also contributed to the transition of the local vascular unit to Sunshine Coast University Hospital and the implementation of a new electronic medical record, vascular laboratory, and clinics. Dr O'Donnell has a keen interest in teaching and is actively involved with the Royal College of Surgeons' Surgical Specialties Examination Committee and vascular SET examination standard sets. She regularly contributes to national and international vascular meetings and is a respected reviewer for the Vascular Journal.

Dr O'Donnell's specialties include diabetic feet and ulcers, renal access, minimally invasive methods for venous diseases and varicose veins, open carotid surgery, and both open and endovascular approaches to aortic and peripheral arterial diseases. She takes a client-centered approach to vascular surgical care, adapting her methods to suit the individual patient's needs and is passionate about educating and engaging patients throughout their healthcare journey.

Dr O'Donnell has a strong commitment to the development of regional vascular services for the Sunshine Coast and Gympie and operates from several hospitals, including Noosa Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital, and consults inpatients at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital.
