Dr Niero Rajarubendra

Mr Niero Rajarubendra is a highly trained Victorian Urologist, who provides private and public referral services to GPs for patients dealing with kidney, bladder, and prostate problems. With a local upbringing, Niero undertook his medical degree at Monash University and further pursued research in the immunology of prostate cancer, earning a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Melbourne and the Ludwig Cancer Centre. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015, after having completed specialized Urology training at major metropolitan and regional centers in Victoria and Tasmania.

Niero went ahead to undertake a two-year advanced laparoscopic and robotic fellowship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he was guided and mentored by world leaders in minimally invasive uro-oncology. He was actively involved in the clinical instructorship and focused on aspects of minimally invasive surgery, including nephron sparing surgery for complex renal tumors, radical cystectomy with intracorporeal urinary diversion for bladder cancers and reconstructive surgery. Through his commitment and skill, Niero has become an expert in these procedures, which make his skill base unique amongst his peers in Australia.

Niero has returned to the Southern Consulting group to provide cutting-edge urological and uro-oncological services to his patients. He is passionate about offering treatment options at the forefront of urological care available globally, thereby making these services accessible to the local community. Niero is also committed to encouraging research, and during his fellowship years, he worked in a translational genomics laboratory that contributed to global research on metastatic prostate cancer.
