Dr Matthew Kitson

Dr Matthew Kitson is an experienced Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, specialising in all aspects of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, including liver disease, bowel cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, and functional bowel disorders. He is based in Traralgon, Victoria, Australia, and regularly offers his services in the Eastern and South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. In addition, he provides telehealth services to regional Victoria.

Dr Kitson obtained his Medical Degree with Honours from the University of Queensland in 2001. He then completed his training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane before pursuing further experience abroad. He worked at the Royal Free and Royal London Hospitals in London, gaining valuable international exposure. Subsequently, he returned to Australia to undertake his Gastroenterology training at the Alfred and St. Vincent’s Hospitals. In 2011, he achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).

Driven by a dedication to research, Dr Kitson completed a PhD from Monash University in 2015, with a focus on evaluating Vitamin D status in liver disease. He has an impressive publication record, with over 40 peer-reviewed articles, and has presented his research findings at national and international conferences.

As a patient-centered practitioner, Dr Kitson prioritizes individualized care and effective communication. He is affiliated with the Alfred Hospital Gastroenterology Department as senior medical staff and serves as a Senior Lecturer at Monash University. Dr Kitson's broad experience, research background, and commitment to patient-centered care make him highly regarded by his patients and the medical community.
