Dr Martin Duncan

Dr Martin Duncan is an esteemed ophthalmologist practising in Deakin, Canberra. He has been in specialist private practice at Canberra Eye Hospital for the past 10 years, focusing primarily on cataract and eyelid surgeries. Dr Duncan obtained his MBBS degree and subsequently completed his specialist training at Sydney Eye Hospital. He achieved Fellowships of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1998. Additionally, he was awarded a travel scholarship that facilitated further postgraduate study in the United Kingdom. Dr Duncan also completed a Refractive Surgery degree at Sydney University.

As a Visiting Medical Officer to Calvary and Canberra Hospitals, Dr Duncan conducts regular operating lists and supervises the training of eye specialists in anterior segment and eyelid surgery. He holds a teaching position at The Australian National University Medical School, where he imparts his knowledge and expertise to medical students. Having served on the ACT Medical Board, Dr Duncan continues to be an active member of the Australasian and American Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is also a founding member of 'Partners in Sight', collaborating with the (RANZCO) Eye Foundation.

Dr Duncan's outstanding surgical skills and dedication to patient care have not gone unnoticed. He was invited by The Canberra Medical Society to perform cataract surgeries for patients from the Northern Territory. Subsequently, The Fred Hollows Foundation sought his assistance in their surgical waiting list initiatives.
