Dr Carolyn Cho

Dr. Carolyn Cho is an esteemed general surgeon with a focus on surgical oncology, including skin and melanoma, as well as breast oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery. With over 18 years of experience in the field, Dr. Cho has been actively involved in various practicing and research activities in ACT, Australia. Her expertise lies in the application of breast reconstructive and oncoplastic surgery techniques that aim to minimize the psychological impact of cancer surgeries and achieve better aesthetic outcomes. She is also skilled in treating young women with breast cancer and managing high-risk breast cancer gene carriers. Dr. Cho completed her General Surgery training and Breast Oncology and General Surgery Fellowship in Australia and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, UK. Currently, she represents the oncoplastic subcommittee of the Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand and is the Designated Surgeon at ACT BreastScreen. Her exceptional research work includes being a part of the Breast Cancer Treatment Group (BCTG) where she served as deputy chair and then as Chair for four years, and was a key author of the 10-year and 15-year reports of the Project. The BCTG Quality Assurance Project is Australia's largest and longest running regional clinical database in breast cancer research and Dr. Cho is an integral part of the data subcommittee which manages the project. She is passionate about teaching and educating surgical trainees and medical students regularly from the ANU Medical School and James Cook Medical School (Queensland). Dr. Cho's exceptional work in the field of surgical oncology and breast reconstructive surgery has established her reputation as one of the most respected and reliable surgeons in Australia and beyond.
