Born and raised in South Australia's Barossa Valley, Dr Rice pursued his passion for medicine at the University of Adelaide, graduating with an MBBS in 1988. Following this, he completed his surgical training in both Australia and the UK and was awarded Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1997. Dr Rice then continued his advanced surgical training in General and Vascular Surgery in the UK, where he also spent a year as a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Vascular Surgery at Oxford University. During this time, he obtained Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons, England. After dedicating 8 years to working as a Consultant General Surgeon in Guernsey, in the Channel Islands, with a focus on Vascular, Breast, and Skin Surgery, Dr Rice returned to Australia in 2007. He established his first Australian surgical practice in Batemans Bay/Moruya on the South Coast of New South Wales.
