Dr Jeffrey van Gangelen is a highly experienced Specialist General Surgeon, with a particular focus on Laparoscopic and Endoscopic surgery. He currently practices at the South East Specialist Centre in Bega and Woden Dermatology in Phillip, ACT, and operates at a range of hospitals including the National Capital Private Hospital, Brindabella Endoscopy Centre, Mogo Day Surgery, and the South East Regional Hospital. Dr van Gangelen completed his Medical degree at the Australian National University and was later bestowed with fellowship with the prestigious Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in Sydney. He is a fully certified Colonoscopist and Gastroscopist with the Conjoint Committee for Recognition in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE) and continually participates in the program’s rigorous recertification process to ensure he meets the highest industry standards. Dr van Gangelen currently holds Specialist and General registration with the Medical Board of Australia. A passionate teacher and mentor, Dr van Gangelen is the South East NSW supervisor for General Surgery training with RACS and also functions as a Board member of the General Surgery Training Committee. He is also actively involved with the Australian National University Rural Clinical School as a Senior Lecturer. Dr van Gangelen frequently participates in peer review audits and clinical governance activities to help keep himself and his colleagues to the highest health care standards. Dr van Gangelen is committed to helping those less fortunate, having performed extensive volunteer work in third-world healthcare settings alongside his wife, a Paediatric Nurse, in Bangladesh, Uganda, and onboard the Mercy Ship Africa Benin and Togo. His dedication to improving global access to healthcare is both admirable and inspiring.
