Dr Ilina Tzolova-Iontcheva

Dr Ilina Tzolova-Iontcheva is a psychiatrist with over two decades of experience in the field. She is based in Battery Point, Hobart, Tasmania and is associated with The Melbourne Clinic.

Dr Tzolova completed her medical training and residency in Psychiatry in Bulgaria, before obtaining a Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2006. She has also undergone specialized training in Brief Psychotherapy, Psychodrama, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Throughout her career, Dr Tzolova has worked in diverse healthcare settings across Europe, the USA, and Australia. This has provided her with valuable exposure to clinical psychiatry, psychotherapy, teaching, and research. She has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as day hospitals.

During her time at The Johns Hopkins University in the USA, Dr Tzolova actively participated in raising awareness about mental illness and improving services for individuals with co-morbid conditions. She strongly believes in a holistic and individualized approach to patient care. Dr Tzolova works closely with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to deliver compassionate care and achieve successful patient outcomes.

Dr Tzolova's areas of expertise include anxiety disorders, depression, psychosis, and schizophrenia. She has a particular interest in schizophrenia and is dedicated to providing comprehensive treatment and support to individuals with this condition. Although English is her primary language, Dr Tzolova is fluent in Bulgarian.
