Dr Gopal Sivagangabalan

Dr Gopal Sivagangabalan is a highly skilled cardiologist specialising in procedural cardiology. He completed his cardiology training at Westmead Hospital in Australia and subsequently obtained a PhD from the University of Sydney. Dr Sivagangabalan further enhanced his expertise by completing a research/clinical fellowship in Electrophysiology and Pacing at Toronto General Hospital in Canada.

During his fellowship, Dr Sivagangabalan received recognition for his outstanding contributions to the field. He was awarded the 2010 Research Fellowship award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and was a Finalist for the prestigious Young Investigators Award at the Heart Rhythm Society Scientific Sessions in Denver, USA.

Currently, Dr Sivagangabalan serves as the Head of the Cardiology Department at Auburn Hospital and holds the position of Clinical lead for Cardiac Pacing and Defibrillation at Westmead. With extensive experience in a wide range of areas, including electrophysiology and ablation, complex device implantation, and coronary intervention, he is uniquely skilled in reporting cardiac CT, which enables successful complicated LV lead insertion and CRT implementation.

Dr Sivagangabalan's passion for education is evident in the successful device implant courses that he has conducted over the past three years. These courses have been instrumental in training and upskilling both Australian and international colleagues, particularly in the field of CRT. He is also a frequent presenter at international Electrophysiology congresses and enjoys a reputation as a highly skilled operator both nationally and internationally.
