Dr George Marinos is a highly esteemed gastroenterologist with over thirty years of experience in the industry. He is renowned for offering cutting-edge treatments to his patients. Dr Marinos co-founded the City East Specialist Day Hospital in 2001 and currently serves as the Chairman of the hospital's Medical Advisory Committee. He provides private endoscopic procedures at the hospital, as well as at his private clinics in Randwick and Bondi Junction. Dr Marinos is also affiliated with the prestigious Prince of Wales Hospital.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Marinos is an adjunct senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales, demonstrating his commitment to education and the medical profession. He obtained his medical degree with honors from the University of New South Wales in 1982 and completed his advanced training in gastroenterology and hepatology at Prince of Wales and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals. Dr Marinos furthered his studies in the UK, spending five years at King's College Hospital in London, where he obtained his MD thesis.
Upon returning to Australia in 1996, Dr Marinos established his private practice and founded South Eastern Gastroenterology Pty Ltd, which specialises in treating patients in the eastern suburbs. In 1997, he co-founded the Australian Breath Analysis Laboratory, serving as a senior medical advisor. The laboratory provides C-13 Urea Breath Testing (UBT) to detect Helicobacter pylori. Dr Marinos has been consistently involved in the laboratory's operations. In 2005, he co-founded Gastric Balloon Australia, now known as The BMI Clinic, which focuses on endoscopic bariatric procedures and research. Dr Marinos is recognized as one of Australia's leading intragastric balloon practitioners. Furthermore, in 2006, he co-founded GP Grand Rounds, an independent teaching organization that provides continuous medical education for General Practitioners.
