Dr. Tang Wong is an accomplished endocrinologist with dual appointments as a consultant at the Prince of Wales and Bankstown-Lidcombe hospitals. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (honours) from the University of New South Wales in 2003. In addition, he completed his advanced training in endocrinology at the Concord Repatriation, Prince of Wales, and Bankstown-Lidcombe hospitals. Under the guidance of Professors Ngai-Wah Cheung, Jeffrey Flack, and Glynis Ross, he accomplished a Masters of Philosophy in Medicine at the University of Sydney. His area of research was "The Risk Stratification of Women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: Can we predict adverse outcomes?" Through this research, he examined the additive roles of glucose, weight, and other factors affecting negative outcomes in pregnancies affected by gestational diabetes. Dr. Wong has an incredible passion for diabetes in pregnancy and continues to advance in this area of active research.

Not only is Dr. Wong dedicated to his patients, but he is also active in medical education. He holds an appointment as a conjoint lecturer at UNSW and is a Royal Australian College of Physicians Co-supervisor of Advanced Training in Endocrinology. He regularly contributes to the education of candidates undertaking the Part 1 and 2 exams of the FRACP specialist exams. Dr. Wong has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals including Diabetes Care, Diabetologia, and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. He has also authored a chapter in an endocrinology textbook in cooperation with the US Endocrine Society. Dr. Wong currently sits on the editorial board of the Diabetes Management Journal and is a member of the Medical Education Scientific Advisory Committee that reviews education resources for Diabetes Australia.

Given his passion for all things endocrinology, Dr. Wong's practice broadly covers areas including type 1 and 2 diabetes, thyroid, bone, pituitary, adrenal, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). His expertise in diabetes in pregnancy has earned him recognition, including the Emerging investigator (researcher) awards he obtained in 2011 and 2019, and the best poster award by the Australian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society in 2013. Dr. Wong is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, the Australian Diabetes Society, the Australian Diabetes in Pregnancy society, and the US Endocrine Society.
