Dr Elizabeth McKenna

Dr Liz McKenna, a highly-experienced Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, has dedicated most of her career to practising medicine in Far North Queensland. After completing her Internship at Cairns Hospital in 1989, Liz underwent training in the United Kingdom before she returned to Cairns and settled as a public Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in the late 1990s. For the past 20 years, Liz has been practising private gynaecology, and has also earned a Masters in the study of Women’s Experience of Menopause in Far North Queensland.

Among her areas of expertise are prolapse surgery, advanced laparoscopic hysterectomy, removal of enlarged fibroid uteri, advanced laparoscopic procedures for ovarian cysts, and endometriosis. Liz is passionate about women's health and is known for being approachable to her patients and colleagues alike. She raised her two children in Far North Queensland and is committed to ensuring that women in the region have access to optimal healthcare. Liz believes that every woman should have the opportunity to age healthily, and is dedicated to working towards this goal.
