Mr Douglas Li

Mr. Douglas Li is a renowned consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in Melbourne. He specializes in the treatment of shoulder and knee conditions, including shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder stabilization, shoulder replacement, knee arthroscopy, knee reconstruction, and knee replacement.

Mr. Li obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with honors from Monash University in 1992. He completed his orthopaedic surgery specialty training in 2001, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). To further refine his expertise, Mr. Li undertook Fellowship positions from 2002 to 2004 at esteemed institutions such as the Old Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, New Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital in Dublin.

Since returning to Melbourne in 2005, Mr. Li has been operating his own private practice. He primarily consults from his main rooms in East Melbourne, but also offers consultations in Caroline Springs and Rowville. Surgical procedures are performed at The St Vincent’s Private Hospital in East Melbourne and Glenferrie Private Hospital. Prior to establishing his private practice, Mr. Li held a public appointment with the Orthopaedic and Trauma Unit at The Alfred Hospital. He also served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Monash University Medical School, where he shared his knowledge and trained orthopaedic trainee and medical undergraduate students.

Mr. Li is a Fellow of The Australian Orthopaedic Association and a member of the Australian Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He holds a strong passion for his work, as well as for his family, and enjoys spending time with his three sons. Beyond orthopaedic surgery, Mr. Li is an avid golfer and a longtime supporter of the Richmond Football Club.
