Prof Shomik Sengupta

Meet Professor Shomik Sengupta, a renowned urologist specialising in urological oncology at Waverley Private Hospital in Melbourne. Shomik has received his training under the Victorian section of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) and a two-year uro-oncology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, USA. He is currently a Visiting Consultant and Uro-Oncology Lead at the Urology Department, Eastern Health, and Professor of Surgery at the Monash University Eastern Health Clinical School.

Shomik's academic background is strong with two higher degrees by research and over 100 international publications to his name. He is working on multiple clinical trials, including the Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group, in which he serves as a Board Director and Scientific Advisory group member.

In addition, Shomik holds several leadership positions in the GU Oncology advisory group and the Board of Urology Training within USANZ and the Clinician Network at Cancer Council Victoria.

Shomik's special interest and training are focused on surgery for urologic cancers and he offers surgeries like radical prostatectomy through open or robotic (Da Vinci®) techniques, prostate brachytherapy, open, laparoscopic and partial nephrectomy, cystectomy with ileal conduit or neobladder diversion, and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection.

Also, he offers a comprehensive range of general urologic surgical procedures, including cystoscopy, trans-urethral resection of the prostate or bladder tumors, ureteroscopy, vasectomy, and circumcision.

Shomik has been servicing the Glen Waverley area since 2006 and regularly practices at Waverley Private Hospital. He is pleased to serve both insured and uninsured patients.
