Dr Deepak Garg

Dr Deepak Garg is a consultant psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in the field of psychiatry. He completed advanced training in adult and consultation liaison psychiatry in the United Kingdom (UK) and worked as a consultant psychiatrist for 4 years in the National Health Service (NHS) before moving to Australia in 2015.

Dr Garg currently serves as the Clinical Lead for the Innovative Mood Disorder Service at the Gold Coast University Hospital. He also provides private consultations at Gold Coast Private Specialist Suites in Hope Island. Additionally, Dr Garg holds the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at Griffith University Medical School.

With a particular interest in treating complex and refractory mood disorders, Dr Garg possesses expertise in using new and emerging techniques such as repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (t-DCS). He is committed to achieving full recovery for patients with mental illness and adopts a holistic approach in his practice.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Garg has a special interest in treating treatment-resistant depression and other neuromodulation techniques. He is experienced in managing anxiety disorders such as stress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), perinatal mental health, age-related mental health problems, and work-related injuries, including those associated with combat-related psychological injuries.
