Dr. C. David H. Wrede is a highly skilled Gynaecological Surgeon with extensive experience in the field. Currently serving at The Royal Women’s Hospital, he leads the Dysplasia service and holds the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the prestigious University of Melbourne. In addition, he is also an Honorary Consultant to the Familial Cancer Clinic at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Dr. Wrede completed his medical education at Cambridge University and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. He then underwent training in general surgery, obstetrics, and gynaecology in London, Birmingham, and conducted research on the role of HPV in cervical cancer at the Ludwig Institute, London.
Before relocating to Australia in 2009, Dr. Wrede served as a consultant in NHS hospitals in Fife, Scotland, and Somerset, England. He has special interests in the prevention of gynaecological cancers through colposcopy, familial cancer, benign gynaecology, advanced laparoscopic surgery, and complex gynaecological surgery, including placental adhesive disorders.
Dr. Wrede’s contributions to the field are widely acknowledged and he serves as a member of the Board of the Victorian Cytology Service and the Medical & Scientific Committee of the Cancer Council Victoria. He also currently serves as Secretary to the management Committee of the ASCCP.
Dr. Wrede is actively involved in the Renewal of Australia's cervical cancer screening program as a member of the Victorian Renewal Advisory Committee and the Federal Working Party that has developed new clinical management guidelines.
