Dr Claudia Cheng

With over ten years of experience as an Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon and Gynaecologist, Dr. Claudia Cheng has become a leading figure in the industry. Her special interest lies in the treatment of women with endometriosis and pelvic pain - an area of research that is rapidly expanding. Dr. Cheng believes that managing persistent pelvic pain requires attention to detail, comprehensive history taking, empathy, and a holistic approach to treatment where the patient is actively involved in the decision-making process.

Dr. Cheng is meticulous in her surgical approach, ensuring that all possible endometriosis is removed for the best possible outcome. As a level 6 laparoscopic surgeon, she routinely operates on severe stage 4 endometriosis cases. She is actively involved in research, teaching, and mentoring, having published prospective trials on endometriosis, pelvic pain, and bladder pain syndrome.

Dr. Cheng operates within the endometriosis-focused unit of Gynaecology 2 at the Royal Women’s Hospital, and is on the board of examiners and a training supervisor for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). She is also an honorary clinical senior lecturer and examiner at the University of Melbourne, and a training supervisor for the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society (AGES).

In 2020, Dr. Cheng founded Gynaecare Victoria® with Dr. Charlotte Reddington, offering a range of gynaecological assessments and advanced surgical care for patients with pelvic pain. The consulting rooms are equipped for colposcopy and minor gynaecological procedures, including LLETZ, and Dr. Cheng is a certified colposcopist through the Colposcopy Quality Improvement Program (C-Quip).
