Dr Dainik Patel

Dr Dainik Patel is an experienced medical oncologist specialising in the treatment of various cancers, with a primary focus on gastrointestinal cancers such as colorectal, pancreatic, gastric, esophageal, and liver cancers. He also specialises in neuroendocrine tumors, melanoma, lung cancer, and breast cancer.

Dr Patel completed his undergraduate medical studies in India before undertaking his basic physician training at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide. He then went on to complete his advanced medical oncology training at Flinders Medical Centre, Lyell McEwin Hospital, and Royal Adelaide Hospital.

During his research fellowships at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Dr Patel gained extensive knowledge and experience in managing and treating gastrointestinal cancers and neuroendocrine tumors. In recognition of his expertise, he received certification from the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) in 2015.

Returning to Australia in 2016, Dr Patel was appointed as a staff medical oncologist at Lyell McEwin Hospital and began his private practice at Icon Cancer Centre (formerly known as Adelaide Cancer Centre). He is currently affiliated with Icon Cancer Centre Adelaide and Icon Cancer Centre Windsor Gardens.

Dr Patel has been actively involved in the design and execution of multiple research projects in the fields of colorectal cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, lung cancer, melanoma, geriatric oncology, and supportive care. He serves as a principal investigator for numerous international trials and is affiliated with multiple research organizations.

In addition to his clinical work and research endeavors, Dr Patel is passionate about medical education. He utilises clinical research and technology to deliver education and empower patients to make informed decisions about their treatment options. He serves as a honorary senior lecturer at the University of Adelaide and also acts as an examiner for the Royal Australia College of Physicians (RACP).

With a broad range of experience in the field of oncology, Dr Patel's clinical expertise covers various solid tumor malignancies. In addition to his special interests, he has a particular clinical interest in lung cancer, prostate cancer, urinary cancer, rare cancers, young onset cancers, and geriatric oncology.
