Dr Anthony Fernando

Dr Anthony Fernando is a psychiatrist based in Glenelg, Adelaide, South Australia. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Colombo Faculty of Medicine in Sri Lanka in 2001. In 2018, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

With a global perspective on psychiatric practice, Dr Fernando has trained in medicine in Sri Lanka, psychiatry in the United Kingdom, and has worked as a consultant psychiatrist in various locations including the Bethlem Royal Hospital in the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, New Zealand, and different regions of Australia. He has also served as a Clinical Director within the public health sector in Tasmania.

Dr Fernando has extensive experience providing face-to-face private psychiatric consultations in Hobart, Tasmania, and Melbourne, Victoria. Since July 2020, he has been offering tele-psychiatry services via Hello Doc, expanding his reach to patients who prefer remote consultations.

Specializing in the psychiatry of Autism Spectrum Conditions and individuals with Intellectual Disability, Dr Fernando takes a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to provide tailored, person-centred treatment plans. He recognizes the higher prevalence of mental health concerns in these patient populations and aims to optimize their health and well-being outcomes.

Additionally, Dr Fernando has expertise in assessing and treating Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and provides psychiatric consultations for individuals with mood and anxiety disorders, as well as psychosis spectrum disorders.
