Dr Anne Howard

Dr Anne Howard is an experienced dermatologist with over 27 years of professional expertise. She obtained her MBBS qualification and subsequently completed her dermatology training. Dr Howard holds the prestigious titles of FRACP (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians) and FACD (Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists).

As a trailblazer in her field, Dr Howard made significant contributions to the dermatology community. She served as the first female chairman of the Victorian faculty, during which time she successfully advocated for an expansion of training positions in Dermatology by collaborating with government officials. From 1995 to 1999, she also served on the Board of Censors. In 2005, Dr Howard achieved another milestone by becoming the first female president of the College.

Dr Howard held esteemed positions at various hospitals throughout her career. She served as the Head of Dermatology at Western Hospital until 2020. During her tenure, she managed the Vulval Dermatology clinic at the Mercy Hospital. From there, she assumed the role of Head of Dermatology at the Royal Women's Hospital until 2019. Furthermore, Dr Howard has been a dedicated consultant dermatologist at the Children’s Hospital and continues to contribute her expertise at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

One of Dr Howard's notable contributions to the field is her provision of specialised care for nail conditions. For approximately 30 years, she has run a monthly Nail clinic at the Skin and Cancer Foundation, now known as the Skin Health Institute. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Howard is an accomplished academic. She holds the position of Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at Melbourne University, imparting her knowledge and experience to future dermatologists.
