Mr Anand Ramakrishnan

Meet Mr. Anand Ramakrishnan, a highly qualified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with more than 12 years of postgraduate training in Australia. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he specialises in head and neck microsurgical reconstruction and the management of complex facial trauma.

In addition to his role at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Mr. Ramakrishnan also holds appointments at the Alfred Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, and the Frances Perry Hospital in Parkville, where he consults and operates.

Mr. Ramakrishnan obtained his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Melbourne in 1996 and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the International Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Society of Reconstructive Transplantation.

Mr. Anand Ramakrishnan has pursued Paediatric Plastic Surgery Fellowships at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, and The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. He holds a fellowship in Microsurgery through the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery, as well as a Doctorate of Medicine for work on stem cell biology through the University of Melbourne.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Anand Ramakrishnan is a committee member of Interplast Australia and New Zealand, where he devotes his time each year to performing pro-bono reconstructive surgery throughout the Asia Pacific region. He is also passionate about being a dad, swimming, surfing, and South Indian cooking, and speaks Tamil fluently, maintaining cultural ties with his country of birth, India.

Mr. Ramakrishnan is currently consulting at 55 Flemington Road, Parkville, and is dedicated to providing the highest quality care for his patients.
