Meet Mr. Alvin Cham - a compassionate and empathetic breast, endocrine, and laparoscopic surgeon who is well-known for his exceptional patient care. With years of expertise in surgical treatment of breast cancer and all benign breast conditions, Alvin's practice includes oncoplastic surgery, sentinel node biopsy, familial breast cancer, and risk reduction surgery. He works with a highly experienced group of radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, and plastic surgeons in a multi-disciplinary breast cancer care setting that delivers the best care for patients.
Besides breast cancer, Mr. Cham also specialises in endocrine surgery such as thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, and laparoscopic adrenalectomy, delivering up-to-date techniques that include cutting-edge methods like intraoperative nerve monitoring during thyroidectomy and focus parathyroidectomy surgery.
With a keen clinical interest in hernia repair, Alvin is highly skilled in repairing complex hernias with an array of techniques tailored to patients' needs, including laparoscopic and open approaches, with or without component separation, using the most suitable mesh.
Mr. Cham received his MBBS from the University of Melbourne in 1997 and completed his advanced training in general surgery (FRACS) in 2007. He went on to undertake a Fellowship year in 2008, focusing on breast cancer and endocrine surgery at Waikato General Hospital in New Zealand, working alongside one of the pioneers of endoscopic retroperitoneal adrenal surgery.
In addition to his native English, Alvin is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, a skill that has expedited expatriate and other non-native patients' trust over the years. His holistic approach, personality, and skillset have earned him an excellent reputation in the laparoscopic and surgical communities.
