Dr Alannah Walsh

Dr Alannah Walsh is an Ophthalmologist based in Brookvale, Sydney, Australia. She specialises in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and general Ophthalmology. Dr Walsh holds several qualifications, including a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Notre Dame Sydney, Australia, obtained in 2011. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO).

Dr Walsh's interest in Ophthalmology developed during her undergraduate degree in Arts and Science at the University of Sydney. She subsequently pursued her post-graduate Medical Degree at the University of Notre Dame. Dr Walsh deepened her medical knowledge by completing a Masters of Medicine at the University of Sydney.

Dr Walsh underwent her Ophthalmology Training at Sydney Eye Hospital. During her training, she completed two Glaucoma Fellowships to enhance her expertise in this field. Her first fellowship was at Liverpool Hospital, where she gained experience in managing complex cataract and glaucoma surgeries. The second fellowship took place at the University of British Columbia/Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, Canada. This fellowship provided Dr Walsh with a North American perspective on Glaucoma management and extensive experience in laser and surgical techniques, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.

In her practice, Dr Walsh performs a range of glaucoma surgeries, including minimally invasive techniques such as trabeculectomy and tube shunt surgery. She stays up-to-date with the latest evidence-based approaches to ensure that her patients receive the highest standard of care. Dr Walsh prioritizes tailoring her treatments to meet her patients' individual needs.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Walsh is actively engaged in research locally and internationally. She currently serves as a Visiting Medical Officer at Liverpool Hospital, where she supervises and teaches Ophthalmology Trainees in both clinic settings and the operating theatre.
