Dr Abul Mamun is a highly skilled and experienced neurologist based in Sydney. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2000. In 2006, he received his AMC Certificate from the Australian Medical Council, Australia. Dr Mamun further pursued his specialisation in neurology and in 2017, he obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in the Adult Medicine Division.
With a passion for neurology, Dr Mamun has particular interests in general neurology, neurophysiology, stroke, and headache. He is fluent in Bengali, allowing him to effectively communicate with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Dr Mamun has made significant contributions to the field of neurology throughout his career. He has been involved in groundbreaking research as the Principal Investigator for the Campbelltown Hospital study on "Extending the time for Thrombolysis in Emergency Neurological Deficits EXTEND-IA TNK Trial." This randomized controlled trial focuses on the use of Tenecteplase versus Alteplase for intra-arterial reperfusion therapy within 4.5 hours of stroke onset.
In recognition of his contributions to medicine, Dr Mamun has received several prestigious awards. He was part of the team that received the Best Quality Improvement Project award in the medical category at Campbelltown Hospital in 2015 for their project "Time is Brain – Improving door to needle time for acute ischemic stroke patients." Dr Mamun was also recognized as Registrar of the Year in 2014 and Registrar Teacher of the Year in 2013 at Campbelltown Hospital.
