Dr Borire is a Neurologist specialising in Neurophysiology, with a focus on developing novel techniques for the assessment of peripheral nerve disorders. He completed his training at St George and Prince of Wales Hospitals and is presently pursuing his PhD studies at UNSW. Dr Borire’s research seeks to uncover new biomarkers for the early detection and treatment of peripheral neuropathies, particularly in metabolic diseases like diabetes and chronic kidney disorders. He has received several awards for his work, including the Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship and the Jim Mcleod Young Investigator Award from the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists Annual Meeting in 2015.
As a conjoint lecturer in medicine at UNSW, Dr Borire is involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He is also a published author and a regular presenter at local and international conferences in the field of neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine. Dr Borire’s scope of practice covers general neurology consultations and neurophysiological procedures, including nerve conduction studies, needle electromyography, electroencephalography, and botox injection.
Dr Borire is a recipient of the Tow Coast Association Research Early Career Awards (open junior division) from the Prince of Wales Hospital in 2016 and the Golseth Young Investigator Award from the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) in 2017. He holds a public appointment at Liverpool Hospital, where he caters to the care of both public and private patients.
