Dr Eoin Wilson is a highly experienced psychiatrist based in Tamworth, New South Wales. With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr Wilson has treated patients of all ages and backgrounds. He obtained his medical degree from University College London (UCL) in 1998, where he also received an honours degree in medical anthropology.
Dr Wilson's psychiatric training began in 2001 on the Royal Free and Associated Hospitals training scheme in London. During his training, he gained expertise in areas including general adult, old age, child and adolescent, liaison, and forensic psychiatry. He successfully passed the Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) exams.
Following his training, Dr Wilson returned to Sydney and worked in community and emergency psychiatry at Royal North Shore Hospital. He then established his private psychiatric practice in Tamworth and served as a visiting psychiatrist. Dr Wilson also worked as a staff specialist in psychiatry at Royal North Shore Hospital, where he supervised the assertive outreach team.
In 2008, Dr Wilson joined Mosman Private Hospital, where he worked in private practice until 2018. He currently practices at Ramsay Clinic Cremorne. Dr Wilson has treated patients from diverse locations, including urban, suburban, and rural areas, and has developed expertise in dealing with complex psychiatric problems.
Dr Wilson has a special interest in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma. However, he continuously updates his skills to address a wide range of psychiatric issues. He is registered with SIRA/MAAA and has experience conducting independent psychiatric assessments for solicitors and insurers.
Dr Wilson sees patients aged 16 and above, providing compassionate and evidence-based care. He is experienced in working with various populations, including asylum seekers and refugees, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, doctors, psychiatrists or medical students, gender diverse individuals, gay and lesbian individuals, those with intellectual disabilities, military and veterans, non-English speaking individuals, and individuals with physical disabilities.
Dr Wilson's areas of expertise include ADHD, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, conversion disorder, depression, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, obsessive-compulsive disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, sexual assault/abuse treatment, and supportive psychotherapy.
In addition to providing clinical care, Dr Wilson offers services such as civil medicolegal assessments, insurance opinions and reports, MBS item 291 (opinion and report), and is a Workcover provider. He is committed to delivering high-quality, comprehensive psychiatric care to his patients.
