Peter Vickers is an accomplished oral and maxillofacial surgeon with extensive experience in various fields of medicine. He completed his education in Australia, the UK, and the USA, obtaining qualifications in Medicine and Dentistry. Vickers specializes in craniofacial surgery, head and neck surgery, oral surgery, reconstructive surgery, trauma surgery, cosmetic surgery, and dental surgery, including dental implants.
Vickers has gained valuable experience in head and neck cancer surgery and cleft lip and palate surgery in South East Asia, particularly during his three-year tenure in Malaysia. He is a pioneer in free tissue transfer, having performed the first free, vascularized tissue transfer for tongue reconstruction in the Australian National Capital in 1989. Vickers is an inaugural fellow of the Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery and also holds Fellowships in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, England, and Australia.
Furthermore, Vickers obtained a certificate of residency training from the examination board of the Louisiana State University, USA, where he received extensive training in trauma surgery, specifically in treating gunshot wounds.
Currently, Vickers serves as the Director of The MaxilloFacial Unit at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney, Australia, where he is actively involved in teaching on a university basis.
In his leisure time, Vickers enjoys engaging in recreational activities such as golfing, water sports, and camping. He also maintains a high level of fitness by training for marathons and has successfully completed the New York, London, Berlin, Paris, and three mountain marathons in New Zealand. Although he does not ride a bike, Vickers passionately supports the Sea Eagles and Socceroos, and is an avid fan of Manchester United and AC Milan.
