Dr Peter Vickers

Peter Vickers is an accomplished oral and maxillofacial surgeon with extensive experience in various fields of medicine. He completed his education in Australia, the UK, and the USA and holds qualifications in Medicine and Dentistry. Vickers specializes in craniofacial surgery, head and neck surgery, oral surgery, reconstructive surgery, trauma surgery, cosmetic surgery, and dental surgery, including dental implants. He is also experienced in head and neck cancer surgery and cleft lip and palate surgery in South East Asia, having worked in Malaysia for three years.

Vickers is a pioneer in free tissue transfer, having done the first free, vascularised tissue transfer for tongue reconstruction in the Australian National Capital in 1989. He is an inaugural fellow of the Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery and holds Fellowships in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, England, and Australia. Vickers also has a certificate of residency training from the examination board of the Louisiana State University, USA, and gained extensive experience in gunshot wounds from his training in trauma surgery in New Orleans.

Vickers is currently the Director of The MaxilloFacial Unit at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney, Australia, where he undertakes teaching on a university basis. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, water sports, and camping. He also keeps fit by training for marathons, having completed the New York, London, Berlin, Paris, and three mountain marathons in New Zealand. Despite not being able to ride a bike, Vickers supports the Sea Eagles and Socceroos and is an avid fan of Manchester United and AC Milan.
