Dr Usama Munir

Dr Usama Munir is a consultant psychiatrist based in Leichhardt, Sydney. With over a decade of experience, he specializes in adult psychiatry, offering advanced assessments and personalized care plans. Fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, he strives to empower his clients to take charge of their mental and physical health.

Dr Munir obtained his fellowship in psychiatry from The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2020. He also holds a Masters of Psychiatric Medicine from HETI NSW. Recognized for his dedication to the field, he was honored as the inaugural recipient of the Santosh Rampersad Memorial Award, presented to a registrar in the Sydney West and Greater Southern Psychiatry Training Network each year.

Driven by a passion for teaching and upskilling junior doctors, Dr Munir actively contributes to public health systems, taking on leadership roles and involvement in clinical governance. He focuses on collaborating with General Practitioners, families, and carers to develop comprehensive mental and physical health solutions.

Dr Munir's professional interests extend to adult ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, early intervention in psychotic and non-psychotic disorders, personality disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He has expertise in providing support to diverse age groups, including asylum seekers and refugees, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, non-English speaking individuals, those with physical disabilities, and families.

Embracing a person-centered approach, Dr Munir values the importance of opinion and report services (MBS item 291) in aiding comprehensive care. He is experienced in managing conditions such as ADHD, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, cognitive behavioral therapy, complex trauma, depression, motivational interviewing, obsessive-compulsive disorders, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, and supportive psychotherapy.
