Dr Adnan Younus

Dr Adnan Younus is a General Adult Psychiatrist with a special interest in youth mental health. He provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services, working collaboratively with other members of the patient's treatment team, family, and/or carers to optimize functioning and recovery. Dr Younus has expertise in a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, adult ADHD, complex trauma disorder, personality disorder, psychosis, and non-psychotic disorders.

After obtaining his medical degree from the University of Karachi, Dr Younus completed his psychiatry training from WSLHD and NBMLHD in Australia. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2018. Dr Younus has trained as a General Adult Psychiatrist with specialist interest and training in youth mental health.

Dr Younus is a Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney, actively participating in teaching and research. He is also an accredited supervisor with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists for the training of registrars. Dr Younus has completed clinical AUDIT in polypharmacy as part of a Quality Improvement service and has run metabolic clinics as part of an early intervention for psychosis service.

In addition to his role as a Visiting Psychiatrist at Northside Group Wentworthville Clinic, Dr Younus works as a Staff Specialist at Nepean Hospital and Penrith Community Mental Health Services, as well as a VMO at Murrumbidgee Local Health District. He also provides psychotherapy and has training in Open Dialogue.

Dr Younus offers telepsychiatry services and provides outpatient appointments and inpatient services at Northside Group Wentworthville Clinic. He caters to a diverse set of patients, including asylum seekers and refugees, military and veterans, and non-English speaking individuals.

With his extensive experience and expertise, Dr Younus offers a range of services including opinion and report consultations, shared care, and urgent assessments. He is dedicated to providing high-quality care and incorporating early intervention and recovery principles in his treatment approach.
