Dr Tony Chen

Dr. Tony Chen is an ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and refractive surgery, as well as medical retina. With a background in comprehensive ophthalmology, he has extensive experience in treating conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal vein occlusions.

Dr. Chen completed his medical degree at the University of Otago in New Zealand and went on to obtain a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) from the University of Sydney. He then completed his specialist ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital and a fellowship in comprehensive ophthalmology at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney.

To further enhance his expertise, Dr. Chen completed three additional subspecialty fellowships in Medical Retina in Taipei, Taiwan, Cataract and Refractive Surgery at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia, and Manual Small-Incision Cataract Surgery in the Solomon Islands and Alice Springs.

Dr. Chen is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in ophthalmology and actively engages in research. He has authored several publications and regularly presents at conferences. Additionally, he has been involved in training future ophthalmologists as a former Clinical Associate Lecturer and current Adjunct Lecturer at the University of New South Wales.

Fluent in English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, and basic Cantonese, he ensures effective communication with a diverse range of patients.
