Prof Saroja Krishnaswamy

Prof Saroja Krishnaswamy is a psychiatrist based in Melbourne, Victoria. With a wealth of experience spanning over three decades, she has made significant contributions to the field of psychiatry.

Prof Krishnaswamy has held various leadership and academic positions throughout her career. From 2005 to 2009, she served as the Head, Deputy Dean, and Professor of Psychiatry at Penang Medical College. Prior to that, she was a Professor of Psychiatry at the National University of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.

Prof Krishnaswamy's impressive credentials include being conferred the Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1995 and the Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2009. She has also worked as a consultant psychiatrist in acute general psychiatry in the public sector in South Australia and New South Wales.

In the past three years, Prof Krishnaswamy has balanced her private practice work in Sydney with part-time public service and conjoint academic roles at the University of New South Wales and University of Western Sydney. Recently, she relocated to Melbourne to be closer to her family and now serves as a part-time consultant psychiatrist at Monash Health. She also provides private services at Ramsay Clinic Albert Road and Masada Private Hospital.

Prof Krishnaswamy's special interests lie in general adult psychiatry as well as specific areas such as psychosis, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, trauma/PTSD, addictions, and medico-legal reports. She is also fluent in Malay and Tamil, besides English.

Throughout her career, Prof Krishnaswamy has dedicated herself to improving mental health outcomes. Her extensive experience and expertise make her a valuable asset in the field of psychiatry, and she continues to make a positive impact in her current roles.
