Meet Chris Davey, the renowned Head of Department of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne, a proficient psychiatrist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and current Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry. With over two decades of experience under his belt, Chris has dedicated his clinical and research interest towards managing severe mood disorders, especially in young adults.
A medical graduate from the University of Western Australia, Chris completed his psychiatry training in Sydney and Melbourne and obtained his PhD at the University of Melbourne. He has been a leading force behind large multicentre clinical trials investigating treatments for depression and bipolar disorder at both the university and Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Prior to his current positions, Chris worked for many years at Orygen, a youth mental health clinical and research program in Melbourne. Today, his research emphasis encompasses implementing evidence-based interventions for early psychosis and bipolar disorder.
Chris is a distinguished author of numerous research papers and an accomplished speaker at both national and international conferences. He is passionate about sharing his insights and knowledge on the prevention and treatment of mental health disorders and advocating for increased funding and investment in mental health programs.
