Dr Rita Upreti

Dr Rita Upreti, MBChB PhD FRACP, is an experienced and highly qualified endocrinologist based in Melbourne. With a focus on general endocrinology, her areas of expertise include diabetes, obesity, thyroid disorders, pituitary conditions, osteoporosis, adrenal disorders, and reproductive endocrinology.

Dr Upreti completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, in 2008. She then pursued her passion for research, obtaining a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, UK. Her doctoral work focused on endocrine disorders and their impact on reproductive health.

To further enhance her skills, Dr Upreti completed an Andrology Fellowship at Monash Health and the Hudson Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne, Australia. This fellowship allowed her to deepen her knowledge in male fertility and androgen deficiency, areas she has a special interest in.

Dr Upreti is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in the Adult Medicine Division, having successfully completed her fellowship in 2019. This demonstrates her commitment to staying at the forefront of her field and delivering the highest standard of care to her patients.

Currently, Dr Upreti holds public appointments at Monash Health and the Hudson Institute of Medical Research. Her dedication to her patients extends beyond her clinical work, as she actively engages in research and academic activities. She has published numerous articles in renowned medical journals and continues to contribute to advancements in the field of endocrinology through her ongoing research.

Dr Upreti's practice encompasses a broad range of endocrine disorders, with a particular emphasis on diabetes management, obesity, non-malignant thyroid conditions, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, and other bone and mineral conditions. In addition, she specialises in reproductive endocrinology, including male fertility and androgen deficiency.
