Dr Rashmi Bansal

Dr Rashmi Bansal is a highly qualified Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychogeriatrician with extensive experience in the medical field. She holds a medical degree and completed her specialist training in Anaesthetics in India, where she was awarded a gold medal for her academic performance.

After relocating to Australia, her interest in Psychiatry was piqued, due to the unique combination of science and art the field offers. Dr Bansal is particularly interested in the health and wellbeing of the older adult population, with a focus on the complex interplay of depression, anxiety, and cognitive disorders. She has conducted research in the area of somatoform disorders in the older adult population.

Dr Bansal is a fellow of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and a member of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age. She prioritizes a holistic model of care to promote recovery and enhance health literacy. Communication is considered a vital component of her clinical practice, and she strives to provide her patients, families, and caregivers with open and effective communication.

She advocates for a biopsychosocial approach to diagnosing and treating mental illness, with judicious use of medications. Her patients have access to the latest evidence-based practices, including neurostimulation treatments in Psychiatry, specifically Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

Dr Bansal provides outpatient services at John Flynn Hospital at Tugun and Robina Private Hospital. She also does consultation liaison work for medical inpatients at John Flynn Hospital and performs inpatient admissions at Robina Private Hospital.
