Raj Anand

Dr Anand is a healthcare provider who believes that understanding each patient is essential for providing healthcare that leads to outcomes that matter to the individual. specialising in persistent and challenging health issues, including non-inflammatory-based musculoskeletal pain, pain in people with neurocognitive dysfunction, and the elderly, Dr Anand works as part of an interdisciplinary team. He ensures that his patients receive the best outcomes by providing a holistic, multi-modal approach to pain management that includes interventions, complementary medicine, and telehealth services.

Currently, Dr Anand works in various public and private hospitals as a VMO at St. Vincent’s Hospital Pain Clinic and Royal Rehab Hospital in Sydney, where he consults and performs pain interventions at St. George Private Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital. He also provides telehealth services to remote and regional Australia through Telecare. Dr. Anand is an active member working on multiple projects with the Agency of Clinical Innovation NSW, the International Association for the Study of Pain, and the Australian Pain Society.

Dr Anand’s passion for well-being, mindfulness practices based on the breath, and helping individuals live a pain-free life led him to undertake medical training in Bangalore, India, before completing his specialist general medicine and rheumatology training in New Zealand. During his specialist training in various medical sub-specialties, he gained extensive clinical experience, including general medicine, rheumatology, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, and more.

Dr Anand then moved to Sydney to pursue a fellowship in Pain Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital and Royal Northshore Hospital, under the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australia, New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA). He was also a two-year research and clinical fellow at the Dementia Center, where he supported people with pain and dementia across the country through a nationwide program. Besides, he is the clinical lead for the “Be Pain Smart Clinic,” which assists people with pain and traumatic brain and spinal cord injury across NSW. Dr Anand’s broad experience and expertise provide him with a deep understanding of complex interplay medical issues, enabling him to offer the best possible outcomes for his patients.
