Prof Prasad Kumarasinghe

Professor Prasad Kumarasinghe is a highly regarded Consultant Dermatologist based in Nedlands, Perth, Western Australia. He holds extensive expertise in various areas of dermatology, including phototherapy, melanoma, skin diseases, surgery, paediatric dermatology, pigmentary disorders, skin infections, and vitiligo. Prof Kumarasinghe currently practices at Hollywood Private Hospital and serves as a Clinical Professor at the University of Western Australia's School of Medicine and Pharmacology.

Prof Kumarasinghe's educational journey began when he completed his MBBS degree from the University of Colombo in 1983. Subsequently, he obtained his MD in Sri Lanka in 1989 and underwent dermatology training both in Sri Lanka and Australia. Prior to establishing himself in Australia, he served as a consultant dermatologist in leading university/teaching hospitals in Singapore and Sri Lanka. Additionally, he held the position of Senior Consultant Dermatologist at the National Skin Centre in Singapore and acted as the Head of The Pigmentary Disorders Clinic.

With a deep interest in tropical dermatology, pigmentary disorders, and melanoma, Prof Kumarasinghe is widely recognized as a distinguished scholar in his field. He was a founding President of the Asian Society for Pigment Cell Research and the Vitiligo Association of Australia. His contributions to the field include over 80 scientific papers and chapters in renowned dermatology books. Furthermore, he has delivered lectures worldwide, fostering collaboration between experts from the East and the West.

Prof Kumarasinghe is a Fellow of prestigious professional organizations such as the Australasian College of Dermatologists and the Sri Lanka College of Dermatologists. In 2004, he served as the President of the Sri Lanka Association of Dermatologists. Additionally, he has held editorial board positions for various international dermatology journals. Currently, he sits on the Council of the International Federation of Pigment Cell Societies and serves as the Director of the International Society of Dermatology.
