Mr Pragnesh Joshi

Pragnesh Joshi is an accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon with a special interest in beating heart surgery and minimally invasive heart and lung surgeries. He is a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and has extensive experience in all aspects of heart surgery.

Mr Joshi has performed numerous types of cardiac surgeries including beating heart bypass surgery, total arterial revascularization, minimally access Aortic valve repair/replacement, Mitral valve surgery, ASD closure, ricuspid valve surgery, Aortic surgery, aortic root replacement, and AF ablation/MAZE procedure. He is also an expert in thoracic surgery, including video-assisted minimally invasive thoracoscopic lobectomy, thoracoscopic mediastinal tumour excision/thymectomy, Bullous lung disease/LVRS, recurrent pneumothrax/pleurectomy, and mediastinoscopy-biospy.

Dr Joshi is a supervisor of surgical education, Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame and a Clinical lecturer at the University of Western Australia Medical Schools. He completed his specialist qualification in Cardiothoracic Surgery from Mumbai University in 2002, and through the course of his extensive career, he has worked as an overseas fellow/Senior Registrar at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Nedlands, gaining exposure to minimally invasive valve surgery at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane, and spending time at Heart Center Leipzig, Germany.
